Sergio Frias
Music Director
Sergio Frias is a classical guitarist, performer, and educator with an active international career. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico and a Master's degree in Mexican Concert Music from the same institution, where he later served as Deputy Director of the Conservatory, Director of the International Guitar Festival, and Head of the Guitar Department. He is currently pursuing a second Masters degree in Guitar Performance at Utah state University, where he teaches in the guitar department and coordinates the Classical Guitar Weekend, featuring masterclasses, competitions, and concerts. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed throughout the United States, Mexico, and Latin America, and his discography includes Cachumbambé, a chamber album for guitar and flute. His playing is often described as combining refined technique with expressive depth, emphasizing clarity, tone color, and musical storytelling His students have earned prizes at national and international competitions.
